Thanks you for supporting the 2013 Season of the Mississauga North Girls Softball Tigers - Mite.
This blog will allow any interested parents, family members, friends and supporters of the 2013 Mite Team to participate in fundraising activities for the team's 2013 season. It will not supersede any communications delivered by the coach (Tim Powell) or the team's 2013 manager Leah.
Please note, that money raised through fundraising does not adjust the $550.00 fee that each girl must provide to play for the Tigers. Fundraising supports the entire team, not individual girls.
Some people have already signed up and participated in the first fundraising activity - volunteering for Bingo. This raises $100 - $200 per volunteer slot.
We had our first fundraising meeting on Friday, November 23 while the girls were practicing with the team and several ideas for fundraising were raised. Please use the comments section if you have any ideas. In addition to the $550.00 fee for each player, an additional $7000.00 needs to be raised to support the team. This money is used to pay for practice space, equipment, and tournament fees.
The first idea that we will utilize immediately is 649 Bingo with collection of funds beginning immediately and the number's drawn beginning on the December 3rd 649 draw. A separate post will be created for that. This is an easy way to raise money, as it can include anyone you wish, and it's repeatable. The link for the bingo can be found above and at http://mngs-tigers.blogspot.ca/p/649-bingo-fundraiser.html.
Other ideas included:
A Video Dance party. This costs roughly $1200.00 plus location fees to run, and if successful can take care of a lot of the fundraising needs.
Advertising banner. Sell logo space on a banner that get's raised at each game and tournament the team participates in. Provide slots for Platinum ($500.00), Gold ($250.00) and Silver ($100.00) advertisers. Assuming a single Platinum, 2 Gold and 5 Silver spnsors, this can raise $1250.00. These fees can be assessed. We already have a printer that can print the banner as a part otheir support.
Euchre tournament. Pretty self-explanatory. A great way for family members to get to know each other before the season starts, and open to friends and families.
Auction at one of the events. Parents donate an item of value from $20- $50. People can then bid on these items with 100% of the proceeds going to the team.
Items draws at Mississauga sponsored tournaments. Again, parents donate an item valued between $20 - $50. Tickets are applied to each of these items, and corresponding tickets are sold for 5$ per ticket, $20$ for 5 tickets. The ticket buyer randomly draws tickets, and they win the item corresponding to the ticket number.
Booster dinner. Ask one of the local restaraunts if they will sponsor a 3 hour team and booster event. Some of these places will provide the space for a quiet evening, and donate a percentage of the proceeds to the event, such as bar bills. This would also be a good location for the silent auction.
Team Yearbook. Selling a year-book of the team including each of the girls on the team provides both a memento and a keepsake.
50/50 draws at non-game team events. Many organizations already have this organized and built into the fundraising needs. If this is the case, then additional 50-50 draws are not required.
Please let us know if you have any ideas, or can provide advertisers for a banner, a restaurant for a team booster, or anything else. For now, please find 10 participants (or 10 total lines sold) for the 649 Bingo. Pass it on to friends, coworkers, etc.
