Fundraising Activities

Hello parents of the 2013 Mississauga North Tigers, Mite.

We have given our girls the opportunity to play baseball at a higher level than house or select. To ensure that they have success, we have a very dedicated and talented coach, who has given up 5 nights a week of his time to work with pitchers, catchers, individual batters, and on the team fielding.  The progress has been amazing, and comes at a cost.

A team meeting was held early this year with all of the parents, reminding us of not only the initial fees that needed to be paid, but the additional $7000.00 that was required.  These costs cover everything from practice facilities, uniforms, equipment and entry fees for the tournaments that our girls will play.

I put together this blog as it provides a central, and somewhat anonymous way to discuss fundraising.  I want to remind you all that EVERY parent is responsible in some way for fundraising.  I don't mind maintaining this and doing organization, but I don't want to be doing it in a vacuum.

Please - post  your thoughts here.  I have allowed for anonymous posting (with the caveat that I will be monitoring before the post is accepted).  We have a lot of ground to make up.  When I get a breakdown of what is remaining of the 7k to be raised, I will post it, but for now I am assuming that it needs to be that much.

My first thought is on a team dinner, with silent auction that friends and family could be invited to.  Each parent would be asked to donate an item for auction.  This can be a fun way to build some team unity, the parents to get to know each other a bit more, and an inexpensive way to raise money.

I am open to suggestions, in fact, I need them.
